WHY THE SOLAR CALENDAR?
This presentation is meant to highlight the main points as to why we keep a Solar Calendar.
There are many different interpretations and opinions about the calendar and how the New Year is reckoned.
Sometimes confusion can arise from the simple face value English translations of certain verses in Scripture.
The most important thing to remember in calendar disputes is brotherly love.
Paul said in...
Colossians 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon (month), or of the sabbath days:
2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
Verse 16 is simply teaching you not to judge each other for everyday decisions in life. This verse is not saying you can do what you want against the provisions of the Torah, such as being a drunkard, or a pork-eater, or that you don't have to honor the sabbath and feast days.
It's talking about lording over people who choose not to eat meat sacrificed to idols, or who drink alcohol, or who observe a Saturday sabbath or some other day as their sabbath. It's not our job to condemn each other.
The Father gives each of us different levels of understanding. I think He challenges each of us this way to see how we treat each other when it comes to disputes.
The 'shadow of things to come' in verse 17 is a reference to the Kingdom age, when all will be on the same page of keeping the sabbath, eating clean foods, and drinking in moderation.
With that said, let us continue in brotherly love and rightly divide the Word of truth.
Because there is so much information on this topic of the calendar, I wanted to put together this power point summary of why we follow a Solar Calendar.
Most people will not spend the time to read hundreds of pages or listen to hours of an audio presentation, so this will be a short one-shot summary of the major issues and details.
There are links at the end of this document that you can examine for the full details, all the verses, and explanation of why the Solar calendar is the correct way to determine the Hebrew New Year.
Why does it matter whether we should know and understand Yahweh's Solar Calendar?
Because part of revering God Almighty is obeying His commandments and instructions.
He gives us His reasons in Scripture.
Leviticus 26:2 Ye shall keep My sabbaths, and reverence My sanctuary: I am Yahweh.
26:3 If ye walk in My statutes, and keep My commandments, and do them; …
...then He will give us rain in due season, the land shall increase and yield fruit. We shall eat until we've had enough, and we shall dwell safely, and have peace, and our enemies shall fall before us. And the Most High will continue and establish His covenant with us. He will set His tabernacle among us, and walk with us, and be our God.
If you read on, you will see that if we will not hearken unto Him and observe His instructions, then He will set His face against us, and appoint over us terror, diseases, sorrow of heart. What we sow shall be in vain. Our enemies shall eat it, and they shall slay us in our own land.
Our God HATES it when His people calculate the feasts by the New moons.
Isaiah 1:13 Stop bringing futile offerings, incense, it is an abomination to Me. New moons, Sabbaths, the calling of gatherings – I am unable to bear unrighteousness and assembly.
1:14 My being hates your New moons and your appointed times, they are a trouble to Me, I am weary of bearing them.
Our Israelite ancestors had mixed paganism into their worship, and they adopted the lunar reckoning of the heathen for their appointed times and festivals. As a result of this, the appointed times for the feasts and sabbaths would be off by days and even weeks. Just like today, Passover and Easter are usually about 2 weeks late. They can be as little as one day late to 24 days late, because these paganized Christains go by the moon!
The Solar calendar-keepers celebrate Passover on the 14th day of the First Month every year, it never changes. It's always 14 days after the Spring Equinox. The name of the day of the week it falls on is irrelevant. Saying that Passover is on a Friday and Easter is on Sunday is like saying your birthday is always on a Thursday.
In 2018 my birthday was on Sunday. Monday in 2019, Wednesday in 2020, Thursday in 2021, Friday in 2022, and Saturday in 2023.
According to the Solar calendar, I was born on Day 223 of the Hebrew year.
But if I go by the Gregorian calendar, the moon, or even by the pagan weekday names, then I could say I was born on every day of the week!
Daniel warned us that the enemy would use deception to overcome our people. Two tactics; the changing of time, and the changing of laws.
Daniel 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws:
We are also given warning in the Book of Jubilees.
Book of Jubilees 6:30 And all the days of the commandment will be two and fifty weeks of days (52 weeks of 7 days), and (these will make) the entire year complete. Thus it is engraven and ordained on the heavenly tables. And there is no neglecting (this commandment) for a single year or from year to year. And command you the children of Israel that they observe the years according to this reckoning-three hundred and sixty-four days, and (these) will constitute a complete year, and they will not disturb its time from its days and from its feasts; for everything will fall out in them according to their testimony, and they will not leave out any day nor disturb any feasts.
For there will be those who will assuredly make observations of the moon--now (it) disturbeth the seasons and cometh in from year to year ten days too soon. For this reason the years will come upon them when they will disturb (the order), and make an abominable (day) the day of testimony, and an unclean day a feast day, and they will confound all the days, the holy with the unclean, and the unclean day with the holy; for they will go wrong as to the months and sabbaths and feasts and jubilees.
Yahweh's Solar Calendar and sabbaths are an integral part of the cycles of nature.
His instructions are the best way to preserve our mortal sustenance through agriculture.
Genesis chapters 1-2:3 is the first scroll, and is about the creation of Adamic man.
Genesis 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
1:29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
Genesis 2:4-4:26 is the 2nd scroll. It is the history in parables of Adam and Eve.
The Adamic race was given charge and dominion over the earth. God gave us commandment to tend to the earth.
Genesis 2:5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth (land), and every herb of the field before it grew: for Yahweh God had not caused it to rain upon the earth (land), and there was not a man to till the ground.
Agriculture began with Adam around 5500 BC.
Observing Yahweh’s calendar, land Sabbaths, Jubilees, and Feast Days keeps us conscious of the role that Yahweh has predestined for us in His creation. The further we remove ourselves from the dust of the earth, the Sun, the moon, the sky, the seasons, the more arrogant and ignorant we become.
Genesis 1:16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
There are two problems with the final clause of this verse.
#1. The words 'he made' ARE IN ITALICS, meaning that the KJV translators ADDED these words to the text. They are NOT in the original Hebrew verse.
#2. In addition, the word 'also', is not in the original Hebrew either, even though it is not italicized. In other words, the King James translators have taken great license in translating the verse.
Here is how it should read: “And Elohiym made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day [the Sun, obviously], and the lesser light to rule the night, the stars.”
“First, in order to be a “Luminary,” the person or thing spoken of must be the source of light, not just the reflected light from the source! Applying the Urim (lights), we find there are two greater Sign-Luminaries. Applying the Thummim (to expand), we see these are the Vernal Equinox and the Autumnal Equinox. The two Greater Sign-Luminaries simultaneously rule over (regulate) the length of the day and regulate the length of the night (darkness).” -Scott Vaught
The double witness of Genesis 1:14, namely, Genesis 1:18 tells us that the purpose of these lights are to "divide the LIGHT FROM DARKNESS".
The NEW MOON does not “shine” at all.
The new moon is as dark as darkness itself. How can a completely dark object be regarded as a “lesser light”?
The moon does not meet the Hebrew definition of a ‘light’ in Genesis 1:16. The moon cannot be reckoned for the calendar, since it has nothing to do with determining times or seasons, or the festivals.
The lunar cycle calculations never end up on the same dates the next year, resulting in the sabbaths and Feast days deviating from the appointed days the Most High set.
The moon reckoning is so inconsistent that sometimes there has to be a 13th month added to complete a year!
Genesis 1:14 tells us the sun and stars are for “signs”, for “seasons”, “for days”, and for “years”.
The Hebrew word for “seasons” is H4150 moed, and means, an appointment, a fixed time or season, specifically, a festival.
The Hebrew feasts or festivals of Passover were always at a fixed time and were always at a fixed time when calculated by the sun, and not by the moon.
The KJV uses the phrase 'new moon' 10 times.
There is no such term as "new moon" in the Hebrew text. The term "new moon" became attached to Hebrew text mistranslations after the Babylonian captivity via the Masoretic Text.
The Hebrew word for the English ‘moon’ is H3394 yereach (yaw-ray'-akh). It has the dual meaning of “moon” and “month.”
The Hebrew word that is often translated as “new moon” is H2320 chodesh, meaning “to renew.”
The KJV is based on the Masoretic text, which presents a lot of problems.
The deliberate Masoretic mistranslation “new moon”, should correctly be translated from the Hebrew as chodesh yereach, and read “new month”.
Most dictionaries give the most common meaning and usage of a word first. Then, the other meanings are listed in the order of decreasing usage. The fact is that the Bible uses chodesh in the sense of "month" 256 times. It is translated as "new moon" only twenty times. Clearly, MONTH is the primary definition of chodesh.
Also, and perhaps even more importantly, the expression, "new moon" is not found where the Appointments (Feast Days) are given and defined; it always says "month."
According to Strong’s Concordance, the Greek word translated 'new moon' in Colossians 2:16 is G3561 noumenia. This comes from G3501 neos, and G3376 men (mane), meaning a new or a fresh month.
The lunar-based calendar originated in Babylon.
The Jewish Pharisees were the predecessors of the Jewish Masoretes.
The Jewish Masoretic scribes composed their own version of the OT after having been expelled from Judaea by the Roman Army.
The Jewish Masoretes have corrupted the translations of the paleo-Hebrew Scriptures, making the word 'chodesh' read 'new moon' in the English.
The KJV and most other versions of the Bible, and the Apocryphal literature, are based on the Masoretic Text. So there are quite a few errors in the KJV and Apocrypha.
The Septuagint is a Greek translation from the Hebrew OT, so it does not have the Masoretic bias the KJV has, and the Septuagint also has the correct timeline. The Masoretic KJV and other versions are missing about 1400 years between the time of Adam to Abraham.
"The origin of the Jewish Calendar can no longer be accurately traced. Some scholars suggest that a solar year prevailed in ancient Israel." -- Article, "The Jewish Calendar," Encyclopedia Britannica, 15th Edition.
One of the most important reasons for rejecting lunar reckoning is that the first yearly day of the lunar calendar can be as much as two weeks off of the Spring Equinox.
Since all lunar calendars are based on either the New Moon or Full Moon closest to the Spring Equinox, these calendars can be as much as two weeks ahead or two weeks behind the agricultural clock. For farmers, such fluctuations can mean the difference between a good harvest or a poor harvest. It is for agricultural reasons that all calendars must focus around the Spring Equinox. The further a calendar wanders away from this Marker Day, the less the farmers can rely on it.
We don't have time in this presentation to cover all the verses that prove the New Moon Calendar to be FALSE. You can examine them here: https://web.archive.org/web/20171007100600/http://anglo-saxonisrael.com/content/yahweh%E2%80%99s-solar-calendar-part-2
The article also covers why the Moon does not divide the day from the night.
Another proof that using the moon to calculate time (such as a year) is in error is in the fact that many lunar years have 13 months. The Bible shows us a Scriptural year has only twelve months.
There are two solid Scriptural witnesses to the fact that a Scriptural year has twelve months rather than thirteen. The first is found in I Chronicles 27:1-15. The second witness I Kings 4:7
Some people may ask 'but what about verses like these'?
Psalm 104:19 He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down.
The moon does have certain purposes.
The moon cycle is for sowing, planting, reaping, and for the branding and castration of livestock. The Farmer's Almanac uses the moon's cycle for the best days to sow seeds. The moon has influence over the moisture in the soil.
Deuteronomy 33:14 And for the precious fruits brought forth by the sun, and for the precious things put forth by the moon,
Again, the moon has influence over agriculture, and the flowing of the sea. The navy uses the moon (which affects tides) in their dry docking of ships.
The moon is not used for calculating times of the feasts.
HOW DO WE KNOW WHEN THE NEW YEAR BEGINS?
The Torah is very specific that the first day and the first month of the year begins at sunrise when the Sun comes out of his Tabernacle, which is the Spring Equinox. The first month (Abib) is the beginning of the year to the Nation of Israel.
Exodus 12:2 This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.
Exodus 13:4 further clarifes:
Exodus 13:4 This day came you out in the month Abib.
Our Hebrew ancestors did not have names for the months or days of the week.
The word Abib, especially when preceded by the article the in the Hebrew text, means “the Spring Equinox”.
The months and days were reckoned by numbers. Month (chodesh) 1-12. Day 1-365.
The Biblical month is a period of 30 days, and this count is unrelated to any phases of the moon, since the cycle of lunar phases is only 29½ days. There is no way that 29½ days can be substituted for 30 days. Even our current reckoning of months has nothing to do with the phases of the moon.
The next question is, which is the first Sabbath Day of the year, and the weekly Sabbath?
In Exodus 20:11, we are told of the hallowing of the Sabbath Day.
Exodus 20:11 For in six days Yahweh made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore Yahweh blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
2Chronicles 29:17 Now they began on the first day of the first month to sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month came they to the porch of Yahweh: so they sanctified the house of Yahweh in eight days; and in the sixteenth day of the first month they made an end.
The annual ritual cleansing of the Temple occurred from the first day through the eighth day of the first month of each year.
Numbers 28:16 And in the fourteenth day of the first month is the passover of Yahweh.
28:17 And in the fifteenth day of this month is the feast: seven days shall unleavened bread be eaten.
Here we see that the 1st, 8th and 15th days of the first month (Abib) are Sabbaths. Now, all we have to do is to continue our count of every seventh day for the next Sabbath.
The Essenes practiced a 364-day Solar Calendar. The MMS document found at Qumran brings 24 charges against the Upper Sanhedrin in Jerusalem. Several of these charges relate to the use of the Lunar rather than the Solar Jubilee Calendar which was used in biblical times.
Apparently the Galileans kept the Solar calendar, and the Judaeans kept the Lunar because the Temple authorities were Jews at that time.
Here is what Dr. Wesley Swift has to say about the Essenes:
“Strange and difficult conditions existed in Palestine during the time of Christ’s ministry. The powers of darkness and forces of evil had usurped priesthood positions which ruled over the temple. True Judah and Benjamin understood that the temple was in the hands of this false priesthood; they also perceived that the defense of their people was not being carried out by the soldiers that were controlled by the priesthood. Although they knew that they were under the Roman Empire and that Rome considered Palestine to be only a vassal province, still they realized that their greatest danger came from this evil which had penetrated into the temple control. For this reason the Essene Company had gathered together and were trying to preserve their records, their scrolls, their doctrines, and were planning for the rebirth of Israel in Palestine. They met in secret caves and in homes of people in Palestine."
Further evidence can be gleaned from the Apocryphal literature.
The Book of Jubilees was purportedly composed by Moses.
The purpose of the Book of Jubilees is to categorize the events of Scripture into the Jubilee periods in which they occurred. Thus, the Book of Jubilees forces us to think in periods of 49 years, from Adam to the Judgment Day.
Book of Jubilees 6:29-31 Thus it is engraved and ordained in the tablets of heaven, and there is no transgression from one year to another. And in this number, three hundred sixty-four days, and the year shall be complete, and the fixed date of their days and their festivals shall not be corrupted, for everything transpires in them according to their testimony, and they (Israel) shall not miss a day or corrupt a festival. But if they do transgress and do not observe them according to his commandment, then will be corrupted all their fixed dates, and the years will waver in consequence, and also their times and their years, and they will transgress their ordinances.
Yahweh’s Solar Calendar is to be FIXED, that is, the same pattern is to be repeated year after year, without deviation. But Yahweh knew we would deviate from His instructions.
Jubilees 6:32-35 And all the children of Israel will forget and will not find the paths of the years, and will forget the new moon (new month) and the Sabbaths and the festivals, and in all the order of the years they will err.
For I know, and from now on I shall make it known to you, and not from my heart, but thus is written in a book before me and is ordained in the tablets of heaven, the division of days, that they forget not the festivals of My covenant and walk according to the festivals of the heathen nations, after their errors and after their ignorance. And there will be those who will make observations of the moon, for this one (the moon) corrupts the stated times and comes out earlier each year by ten days. And in this way they will corrupt the years and will observe a wrong day as the day of testimony and a corrupted festival day, and everyone will mix holy days with unclean ones and unclean with holy; for they will err as to months and Sabbaths and festivals and jubilees.”
So, if Scripture and the Apocrypha speak of 364 days, then where is the 365th day?
The paleo-Hebrew has the word abibix, which means, specifically, the Spring Equinox.
Since the year is defined as consisting of 364 days, there has to be a day which is not counted, and that would be abibix, the very day on which the Spring Equinox occurs.
On the day of the Spring Equinox (abibix), there are equally twelve hours of daylight and twelve hours of nighttime (in both the southern and northern hemispheres). For this reason, the Equinoxes are natural starting points for any system of counting days. So, regarding abibix as the Spring Equinox, the very next day will be the first day of the first month of Abib (also called Nisan), the first day of the 364-day count.
Every calendar system has to deal with the fact that an actual year is 365 & ¼ days long.
Once you understand the rules of calculation of Yahweh’s Solar Calendar, you will be pleasantly surprised to discover that it resolves the extra 1¼ day per year problem. The 365th day was usually the day of “ the Abibix,” the Spring Equinox, except for leap years, when an additional waiting day had to be observed. In this case, it's simply an extra sabbath day.
EACH MONTH = 30 DAYS.
12 MONTHS X 30 DAYS = 360 DAYS.
WHERE ARE THE OTHER 4 DAYS THEN?
The other 4 days are Intercalary Days. They are Seasonal Markers. They follow every third month.
The 91st Days of the Book of Enoch
Chapter 81
1 Now, my son Mathusala, all these things I speak unto you, and write for you. To you I have revealed all, and have given you books of everything.
2 Preserve, my son Mathusala, the books written by your father; that you may reveal them to future generations.
3 Wisdom have I given you, to your children, and your posterity, that they may reveal to their children, for generations for ever, this wisdom in their thoughts; and that those who comprehend it may not slumber, but hear with their ears; that they may learn this wisdom, and be deemed worthy of eating this wholesome food.
4 Blessed are all the righteous; blessed are all who walk in righteousness; in whom no crime is found, as in sinners, when all their days are numbered.
5 With respect to the progress of the sun in heaven, it enters and goes out of each gate for thirty days, with the leaders of the thousand classes of the stars; with four which are added, and appertain to the four quarters of the year, which conduct them, and accompany them at four periods.
Here, Enoch is defining a month as consisting of exactly 30 days, just as the Bible does. But there are four days added to the year, one at the end of each season (quarter).
7 So that the year is completed in three hundred and sixty-four days.
Here, Enoch and Moses agree that the year is supposed to be 364 days.
11 Four conductors of them first enter, who separate the four quarters of the year. After these, twelve conductors of their classes, who separate the months and the year into three hundred and sixty-four days, with the leaders of a thousand, who distinguish between the days, as well as between the four additional ones; which, as conductors, divide the four.
Here, Enoch has reiterated that we have four seasons, plus four intercalary days. But where and when do we count these four days? Speaking of the angels that are in charge of each season, Enoch says, in Verses 17 and 20:
17 All the days of his influence, during which he rules, are ninety-one days.
20 All the days of his light are ninety-one days.
So, the Book of Enoch explains the seasons and stipulates that each season has 91 days. The point here is that, although each month has thirty days, each season has 91 days. Each year, therefore, has four “91st days.” These are simply intercalary days that complete the seasons.
The main thing we learn from Enoch is where to insert the intercalary days so that we get a year of 364 days with the seasons divided equally among them. The 365th day is the Spring Equinox. Then the count starts all over again. This system of fixed dates keeps the Calendar adjusted to the annual growing season, and the annual pattern of 52 weeks of 7 days each, which fits very neatly into this system.
WHEN DOES THE DAY BEGIN?
We have three choices: evening to evening (sunset to sunset), noon to noon, and sunrise to sunrise.
The relevant Scriptural verse is Genesis 1:5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
By itself, this sounds contradictory, because only the light is first called “Day,” then the “evening and the morning” are called “day.” The Hebrew word is yowm, meaning “to be hot,” thus signifying the daytime only, from sunrise to sunset. But yowm has several other meanings, such as “age” or “era,” “season,” and, by inference…a “24-hour day.” The Hebrew word for “dawn” is shachar; and this word is distinguished from yowm, which does not mean “dawn.”
The noon-to-noon doctrine is based on the concept that the word ‘evening’ actually refers to High Noon, when the Sun divides the day into two EVEN halves. This is an interesting concept, but the Hebrew word ereb does not offer this as an alternative definition to the one given, namely, “dusk.” The root word is arab, meaning to grow dusky.
A little known phrase clears up the confusion to what an evening is. 'In the evening' is 'between the two evenings'.
From Treasury of Scripture Knowledge:
Till the sun passed the meridian, all was morning or forenoon; after that, all was evening or afternoon.
The first evening began just after noon, and continued till sunset.
The second evening began at sunset, and continued till night.
Between the evenings at the Cross is as follows:
High noon = Evening begins. The 9th hour, or 3pm = Between the evenings. Dusk = Evening ends.
The noon to noon Sabbath was part of the Baal priest's Sun worship thousands of years ago.
Genesis 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
When God created/restored light, following the light came evening, following evening came night, following night came morning, the first day came to an end and the new day was about to begin.
A day is 24 hours. There are two 12 hour cycles in a day. The 'light' first, the 'darkness' second.
Leviticus 23:32 (Speaking of the DOA) It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath.
At face value it seems as if the DOA begins at evening.
The Hebrew word for even(ing) is H6153 ereb, and means evening, night, dusk, sunset.
The related word is H6150 arab, a verb, and means to become evening, grow dark,
The Hebrew word for “day” is YOWM. This word has a wide variety of meanings, all of which are reflected in the English word ‘day.’ It can mean a 24-hour day. It can mean an age or eon. It can mean an unspecified length of time.
The command and instructions for the Day of Atonement is as follows:
No servile work is to be done during the daytime on the 10th day, which is the DOA. It is a High Shabbat.
The 'fast' began at 'even' on the 9th day, as it says in verse 32, until it was completed at 'even' 24 hours later, at the 'even' of the 10th day. As dusk approches on the 10th, the fast would end with a wonderful dinner feast.
The pattern is the same for Passover. Passover is celebrated with the eating of Unleavened Bread on the 'even' of the 14th day of the first month until the 21st day, which is the last day of the Feast of UB.
When the Israelites returned to Jerusalem after the Babylonian captivity, Nehemiah had to teach them how to observe the Sabbath. To prevent the Israelites from carrying on their usual day-to-day business on Sabbath, Nehemiah commanded that the gates of Jerusalem be shut “when the evening shadows fell on the gates of Jerusalem before the Sabbath” (Nehemiah 13:15-19)
It sounds like the the Sabbath starts at evening.
It was customary to close the gate at night and opened when sun is hot (Neh 7:3).
The merchants came on the 6th day, arriving at the end of the day, so Nehemiah shut the gates on them. The evening was not the beginning of the new day or the sabbath. As they lodge about the wall that evening, Nehemiah would not be laying his hands on them if it were the Sabbath. The sabbath comes after dark, in the morning at sunrise. The merchants never made it into the city the evening of the 6th day, nor were they allowed in on the sabbath day. Since the gates were closed at night, the merchants were kept out almost two days. From the evening of the 6th day to noon on the 8th day.
HOW DO WE KNOW THAT EACH MONTH HAS 30 DAYS?
The twelve months are exactly 30 days each.
The biblical passages which verify the 30-day month occur in the Book of Genesis.
Genesis 7:11 states, “In the six hundreth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.”
Genesis 8:3 tells us, “And the waters returned from off the earth continually: and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated.”
Here we have Genesis telling us that the Flood of Noah lasted exactly one hundred fifty days.
Genesis 8:4 puts it this way: “And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.”
So, from the 17th day of the second month to the 17th day of the seventh month we have exactly 150 days, which means that each intervening month had exactly 30 days. 5X30=150. A biblical month is defined as lasting 30 days.
Knowing this, at the end of months 3 and 6 during the flood, we have seasonal Marker Days (91st days), we may conclude that the Flood lasted exactly 152 days.
We also see in Numbers 20:29 that when Aaron died, they mourned thirty days.
In Deuteronomy 34:8, when Moses died, the children of Israel mourned thirty days.
In Daniel 6:7 the men that sought occasion against Daniel petitioned the King to make a decree that whosoever should ask petition of any God or man, save the King, for thirty days, he shall be thrown in the lion's den.
The names of the months came from Babylon.
The twelve months of the Chaldean system are:
Abib/Nisan
Ziv
Sivan
Tammuz
Ab
Elul
Ethanim
Bul
Chislev
Tebeth
Shebat
Adar
The first day of the year, Month 1 (Abib) is a High Sabbath, even though it is a first day, not a seventh day.
As explained earlier “Hallowing the Sabbath”, days 1, 8, and 15 were “sanctified” and no work was performed on those days.
The Solar Calendar begins every year upon the sunrise of the Spring Equinox. This means that if the time (hr:m) of the Spring Equinox is after the sun had set, then the following sunrise would complete the day of the Spring Equinox, and its sunrise would be the beginning of the first month of the year.
The Spring Equinox can occur on any day of the week. Whatever day that is, if the sun had not yet set (gone into its tabernacle) that day becomes the first day, and the first Sabbath of God’s Solar Calendar year.
HOW THE CALENDAR WORKS
Now let's go over the Spring Equinox, the 12 thirty-day months, the 7 Holy Feast Days in those months, and the 4 Intercalary seasonal marker days.
The SPRING EQUINOX
This is usually the last day of the year. Day 365. When the sun rises on the day of the Spring Equinox, the New Year begins, Month 1 begins, the first Sabbath begins, and the first day of the year begins.
Month 1 (Abib)
Day 1-30
Deuteronomy 16:1 Observe the month of Abib (Month 1), and keep the passover unto Yahweh your God: for in the month of Abib Yahweh your God brought you forth out of Egypt by night.
Exodus 12:2 This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.
In this month we have 3 spring Holy Feast Days. Passover, Unleavened Bread, and the Feast of Weeks 50 day countdown to Pentecost.
In Pete Peter's book 'Solar Sanity vs. Lunar Lunacy' he covers “the door” day, which is the Passover. The most important day. Peter's covers a bunch of verses with the word 'door' and connects them to the keeping of Passover. The angel of death passing over the 'door' and Jesus will not allow the destoryer to come in and smite you, and those who try to enter by the 'door' some other way, and the parable of the fig tree whose tender branches and leaves let you know that summer is near, so you recognize that He is near, right at the 'door'. That brethren should not fight, for the Judge is standing right at the 'door'. That the 'door' was shut on the 5 foolish virgins.
Every year Christians have the opportunity to keep the Passover, which is an entering into a covering, if you will, for that year; should that be the year that contains the day of the Lord, they will enjoy that salvation yet to be revealed of which the Apostle Peter speaks, and be hid in the day of His wrath.
We also have at least two Bible witnesses that the 14th day of the First Month (Abib) was a day connected to covenant keeping and entering into a covenant with God (thus it is a 'door' day).
In II Chronicles 29:10, we read that Hezekiah desired to make a covenant with God; and in doing so he purposed to keep the Passover day (read 2Chronicles 30:2-3).
Upon further study concerning this important day, one discovers that it was an ancient “appointed time”, a day that was observed way before the Passover event took place in Exodus chapter 12 on that day.
The following is taken from the Encyclopedia Britannica 11th Edition under the heading of “Passover”: “Ewald regarded the Passover as an original pre-Mosaic spring festival made to serve the interest of purity and atonement.”
It appears, from the Bible record, that the 14th day of the First Month (Abib) was the day God entered into a covenant with Abraham. We are told in Exodus 12:41, “and it came about at the end of four hundred and thirty years, to the very day, that all the hosts of Yahweh went out from the land of Egypt.” Note that it was 430 years to the very day. This has been a confusing text for some, for study shows that Jacob and his children were in Egypt 215 years not 430.
The written law was also given to the children of Israel at Mt. Sinai in the Third Month of the same year they came out of Egypt.
It is true that the Passover feast of killing a lamb and eating it as instructed in the Old Covenant was a mere shadow of what was to come. Jesus came and in the New Covenant He is our Passover lamb and we, figuratively, eat Him in communion.
Every Feast Day is a part of the Gospel message.
The Gospel is the message of the Good News. The news of our Saviour, and that He died for our sins.
Passover is celebrated as a reminder that Christ Yahshua died to pay the penalty of our sins.
Passover is celebrated on the 14th day of this First Month. (Lev 23:5)
The Feast of Unleavened Bread, which reminds us that we must put the sin out of our lives.
The Feast of Unleavened Bread begins on the 15th day of the First Month and lasts 7 days. (Lev 26:6-7). The first and last days of FUB are High Sabbaths.
The Feast of Weeks, also called Wave Sheaf and Feast of Firstfruits. (Lev 23:9) It represents the Resurrection of Yahshua Christ from the dead. It is symbolic of the firstfruits of God's calling and begins the 50 day countdown to Pentecost. (Lev 23:15-16)
The Feast of Weeks begins on the 16th day of the First Month and starts the countdown to Pentecost.
Because people do not understand the calendar, and they follow the Gregorian calendar and determine Passover by the moon's cycle, they can be up to 2 weeks late. They also always keep it on a Friday, and believe He rose from the dead on a Sunday. They know not that they are celebrating the pagan holiday Easter, for the goddess Ishtar, and which is only 2½ days that Jesus would be in the tomb.
Month 2 (Ziv)
Day 31-60
Month 3 (Sivan)
Day 61-90
Pentecost occurs on the 5th day of the Third Month, and is a High Sabbath.
When you do that which is right in the sight of Yahweh, you receive the Holy Spirit, which is promised to those who obey Him.
The New Moon Calendar can never obey the Bible's rules for calculating the Day of Pentecost.
According to the FIXED Solar Calendar, Pentecost is always on Day 65. No need to look around for a new moon.
At this point, we've completed 3 months = 90 days. Spring is over.
This is where the 91st days come in. They are seasonal markers.
Intercalary Day- 91st Day (Summer begins)
Month 4 (Tammuz)
Day 92-121
Month 5 (Ab)
Day 122-151
Month 6 (Elul)
Day 152-181
At this point, we've completed 6 months = 181 days. Summer is over.
Intercalary Day- 91st Day (Day 182)(Fall begins)
Month 7 (Ethanim)
Day 183-212
In this month we have the 4 Fall Holy Feast Days, Trumpets, Day of Atonement, Tabernacles, and the Last Great Day.
The Feast of Trumpets, because the Trumpet is a warning and call to preparation that Yahshua the Christ is coming. Time to repent for the reign of Yahshua is near.
Trumpets occurs on the 1st day of this Seventh Month. (Lev 23:23) A High Sabbath.
The Day of Atonement, which is a time to repent, and to fast, to humble ourselves and deny worldly things for the day. It's a spiritual as well as bodily cleanse. A High Sabbath.
The Day of Atonement begins on the 10th day of this Seventh Month. (Lev 23:28)
Your fast begins the evening before, on the 9th day until the evening of the 10th day. No servile work is to be done during the day on the 10th. Your fast is broken with a dinner the evening of the 10th.
The Feast of Tabernacles is when you have atoned and repented, you are now cleansed and can dwell in the safety of Christ. It is a reminder of when Yahweh dwelt among our Israelite ancestors in the wilderness in tents. It is also symbolic that we will dwell in safety when He returns in flaming fire.
The Feast of Tabernacles begins on the 15th day of this Seventh Month and continues to the 22nd day of the month, which is that Last Great Day. (Lev 23:34, 41-43) The first and eighth days are High Sabbaths.
The Last Great Day of this Feast of Tabernacles represents the Judgment Day and end of this evil age and the beginning of the Kingdom age.
*All 7 of these Holy Feast Days are to be memorials, are to be observed (like we do our national holidays), but not with the ceremonial rituals because those sacrificial ordinances were 'done away'.
Month 8 (Bul)
Day 213-242
Month 9 (Chislev)
Day 243-272
At this point, we've completed 9 months = 272 days. Fall is over.
Intercalary Day - 91st Day (Day 273)(Winter begins)
Month 10 (Tebeth)
Day 274-303
Month 11 (Shebat)
Day 304-333
Month 12 (Adar)
Day 334-363
At this point, we've completed 12 months = 363 days. Winter is over.
Intercalary Day - 91st Day (Day 364)(Spring begins)
Day 365 is usually an extra Sabbath and completing the year, or depending on the time of the Spring Equinox (Abibix) and Leap Year the Year is complete!
The following Sunrise = New Year = Month 1 (Abib) Day 1 (The first Sabbath of the year)
See how simple, and how perfect it works?
The Spring Equinox determines the beginning of the New Year.
DID JESUS OBSERVE THE SOLAR CALENDAR?
Jesus observed the Passover meal on Abib 14 in accordance with the solar calendar, one day prior to the Jews. The Jews of the New Testament used a lunar based calendar to determine when the year began. The Jewish calendar, which is Babylonian in origin, incorporated the new moon into its calendar by waiting for the FIRST NEW MOON after the Spring Equinox to start/continue their Sabbath count. With that in mind, the Jews crucified Jesus the next day after Abib 14 as a blood sacrifice for man’s sins in preparation for their passover, Nisan 14. (Matthew 26:18-21)
So we see that going by the moon, the Biblical solar appointment of the Passover can be up to 2 weeks early and 24 days late, and it changes every year! So much for FIXED dates which the Father set!
There were three night watches in the OT times.
The first watch from 6pm-10pm (Lam 2:19). The middle watch from 10pm-2am (Judg 7:19). The last watch from 2am-6am sunrise (1Sam 11:11).
There were four night watches in the NT times under the Romans.
The evening watch from 6pm-9pm. The midnight watch from 9pm-midnight. The cock-crowing from midnight to 3am, and the morning watch from 3am-6am.
Mark 13:35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even (6pm-9pm), or at midnight (9pm-midnight), or at the cockcrowing (midnight-3am), or in the morning (3am-6am):
Jesus died at the ninth hour (3pm) of the daytime hours counting from sunrise.
The night watches and the daytime hours are two entirely different time reckonings. The 'watches' started at sundown, and were watches for defense and safety for the city or camp.
The 'hours' started at sunrise, and identified the daytime.
For example:
In the parable of the householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard, starting about the third hour. This would be 9am.
The householder again went out to hire more labourers about the sixth and ninth hour. This would have been noontime and 3pm.
The householder also went out at the eleventh hour, which would have been 5pm, an hour before the evening sunset. And the workers that came first in the morning at 9am were jealous that the workers that were hired in the last hour of the day also got a penny.
The moral of the parable is that we should not despise those who come to the truth in the last hour.
Salvation is for all who work to maintain it. Every Israelite who loves God and keeps His commandments gets their penny!
As Christian Israelites, if we will again follow the ancient paths as our forefathers did by observing God’s commands, including observing the Passover meal and the Sabbaths at the proper time, as Jesus did, we will reestablish the protection described in the 91st Psalm.
Other interesting facts:
Stonehenge builders had built an observatory for calculating certain days. Archaeologist Barry Fell, author of America B.C., tells of an ancient Celtic-American Stonehenge in Vermont called Mystery Hill. It was an observatory to regulate a solar calendar. Following are his words: “The Celtic calendar was undoubtedly connected intimately with the Celt’s religious life . . . particular religious festivals were held on days determined by the solar calendar; that is on days when the sun was seen to be aligned with particular dating monolith, those of the solstices and equinoxes apparently being the most important.”
The Celts were Israelites. The stone knife they used to circumcise with was called a 'kelt'.
