JUBILEE

This study will show the verses and uses of the Yobel (Jubilee) and Shemittah (7th year release).

This study is also an attempt to identify the Yobel Years.

The historical records of Josephus, Assyrians, Maccabees and Romans do however pinpoint the 7th year Sabbaths.

The key is the date of the entering of Canaan. ​​ 

At mount Sinai

Exodus 19:1 ​​ In the third month, when the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they into the wilderness of Sinai (Siynay).

​​ 19:2 ​​ For they were departed from Rephidim, and were come to the desert of Sinai, and had pitched in the wilderness; and there Israel camped before the mount.

​​ 19:3 ​​ And Moses went up unto God, and Yahweh called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt you say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel;

​​ 19:4 ​​ Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto Myself.

America's national symbol is the eagle. We are True Israel regathered.

​​ 19:5 ​​ Now therefore, if you will obey My voice indeed, and keep My covenant, then you shall be a peculiar treasure unto Me above all people: for all the earth (land) is Mine:

Deuteronomy 5:2 ​​ Yahweh our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.

​​ 19:6 ​​ And you shall be unto Me a kingdom of priests, and an holy (set apart) nation. These are the words which you shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

1Peter 2:9 ​​ But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy (set apart) nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvellous light:

Titus 2:14 ​​ Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

This was done to and for the children of Israel. The race of Adam. The white race is the race of Adam, as the definition states. Awdawm, rosey, ruddy, able to blush.

The “churches” teach that He gave Himself for everybody.

Revelation 5:10 ​​ And have made us a kingdom and priests for our God, and we shall reign on the earth.

​​ 19:7 ​​ And Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before their faces all these words which Yahweh commanded him.

​​ 19:8 ​​ And all the people answered together, and said, All that Yahweh hath spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto Yahweh.

Our ancestors, the children of Israel, agreed to obey Yahweh and His commandments.

Deuteronomy 5:27 ​​ Go thou near, and hear all that Yahweh our God shall say: and speak thou unto us all that Yahweh our God shall speak unto thee; and we will hear it, and do it.

​​ 19:9 ​​ And Yahweh said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto you in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you, and believe you for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto Yahweh.

Moses prepares the people that Yahweh is going to speak to them.

​​ 19:10 ​​ And Yahweh said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to day and to morrow, and let them wash their clothes,

Leviticus 11:44 ​​ For I am Yahweh your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

45 ​​ For I am Yahweh that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy (set apart), for I am holy (set apart).

​​ 19:11 ​​ And be ready against the third day: for the third day Yahweh will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai.

​​ 19:12 ​​ And you shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, that you go not up into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death:

​​ 19:13 ​​ There shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live: when the trumpet (H3104 yobel- ram's horn) soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount.

Third month (Sivan). Sanctify (be prepared by) the third day. Yahweh comes down upon Mt Sinai in fire.

​​ 19:18 ​​ And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because Yahweh descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.  ​​​​ (Deut 4:11-12)

The Ten Commandments are spoken.

Exodus 23:10 ​​ And six years you shalt sow your land, and shalt gather in the fruits thereof:

​​ 23:11 ​​ But the seventh year you shalt let it rest (H8058 shamat- release) and lie still; that the poor of your people may eat: and what they leave the beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner you shalt deal with your vineyard, and with your oliveyard.

Every seventh year the land shall lie fallow. Released from being worked.

H8058 is the verb shamat. To release, let drop or loose or rest or fall.

Sabbath and jubilee years

Leviticus 25:1 ​​ And Yahweh spake unto Moses in mount Sinai, saying,

​​ 25:2 ​​ Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When you come into the land which I give you, then shall the land keep a sabbath unto Yahweh.

​​ 25:8 ​​ And you shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years.

​​ 25:9 ​​ Then shalt you cause the trumpet (H7782- shophar) of the jubilee (H8643- sound of shophar) to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement (propitiation) shall you make the trumpet (H7782- shophar) sound throughout all your land.

The Jubilee starts on the Day of Atonement in the 49th year and lasts until the Day of Atonement the following year.

Example: 49 years. The '50th' year is symbolic. This Yobel year would be within the 49th and 50th year. The next Yobel year would be within the 98th and 99th year.

​​ 25:10 ​​ And you shall hallow (set apart) the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubilee (H3104- yobel year, marked by blowing of cornets) unto you; and you shall return every man unto his possession, and you shall return every man unto his family.

​​ 25:11 ​​ A jubilee (H3104- yobel year) shall that fiftieth year be unto you: you shall not sow, neither reap that which groweth of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of your vine undressed.

​​ 25:12 ​​ For it is the jubilee (H3104- yobel year); it shall be holy unto you: you shall eat the increase thereof out of the field.

​​ 25:13 ​​ In the year of this jubilee (H3104- yobel year) you shall return every man unto his possession.

​​ 25:14 ​​ And if you sell ought unto your neighbour, or buyest ought of your neighbour's hand, you shall not oppress (exploit) one another:

​​ 25:15 ​​ According to the number of years after the jubilee (H3104- yobel year) you shalt buy of your neighbour, and according unto the number of years of the fruits he shall sell unto you:

​​ 25:16 ​​ According to the multitude of years you shalt increase the price thereof, and according to the fewness of years you shalt diminish the price of it: for according to the number of the years of the fruits doth he sell unto thee.

As the jubilee year approaches, don't make any long term commitments. In other words, don't try to do your brethren wrong by charging up debt or price knowing the year of release is near.

​​ 25:17 ​​ You shall not therefore oppress one another; but you shalt fear (revere) your God: for I am Yahweh your God.

​​ 25:25 ​​ If your brother be waxen poor, and hath sold away some of his possession, and if any of his kin come to redeem it (buy it back as kinsman redeemer), then shall he redeem (buy it back as kinsman redeemer) that which his brother sold.

​​ 25:26 ​​ And if the man have none (no near kinsman) to redeem it (buy it back as kinsman redeemer), and himself be able to redeem it (buy it back for the price of redemption);

​​ 25:27 ​​ Then let him count the years of the sale thereof, and restore the overplus unto the man to whom he sold it; that he may return unto his possession.

​​ 25:28 ​​ But if he be not able to restore it to him, then that which is sold shall remain in the hand of him that hath bought it until the year of jubilee (H3104- yobel year): and in the jubilee (H3104- yobel year) it shall go out, and he shall return unto his possession.

​​ 25:29 ​​ And if a man sell a dwelling house in a walled city, then he may redeem it (buy it back for the price of redemption) within a whole year after it is sold; within a full year may he redeem it (buy it back for the price of redemption).

​​ 25:30 ​​ And if it be not redeemed (bought back for the price of redemption) within the space of a full year, then the house that is in the walled city shall be established for ever to him that bought it throughout his generations: it shall not go out in the jubilee (H3104- yobel year).

​​ 25:31 ​​ But the houses of the villages which have no wall round about them shall be counted as the fields of the country: they may be redeemed (bought back for the price of redemption), and they shall go out (are released) in the jubilee (H3104- yobel year).

​​ 25:32 ​​ Notwithstanding the cities of the Levites, and the houses of the cities of their possession, may the Levites redeem (buy back for the price of redemption) at any time.

​​ 25:33 ​​ And if a man purchase of the Levites, then the house that was sold, and the city of his possession, shall go out in the year of jubilee (H3104- yobel year): for the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession among the children of Israel. ​​ 

​​ 25:39 ​​ And if your brother that dwelleth by thee be waxen poor, and be sold (sell himself) unto thee; you shalt not compel him to serve as a bondservant (slave):

​​ 25:40 ​​ But as an hired servant, and as a sojourner (settler), he shall be with thee, and shall serve thee unto the year of jubilee (H3104- yobel year):

​​ 25:41 ​​ And then shall he depart from thee, both he and his children with him, and shall return unto his own family, and unto the possession of his fathers shall he return. ​​ 

​​ 25:47 ​​ And if a sojourner (gare) or stranger (toshab) wax rich by you, and your brother that dwelleth by him wax poor, and sell himself unto the stranger (gare) or sojourner (toshab) by you, or to the stock of the stranger's (gare) family:

​​ 25:48 ​​ After that he is sold he may be redeemed (bought back for the price of redemption) again; one of his brethren may redeem him (buy him back for the price of redemption):

​​ 25:49 ​​ Either his uncle, or his uncle's son, may redeem him (act as kinsman redeemer), or any that is nigh of kin unto him of his family may redeem him (act as kinsman redeemer); or if he be able, he may redeem himself (act as kinsman redeemer).

​​ 25:50 ​​ And he shall reckon with him that bought him from the year that he was sold to him unto the year of jubilee (H3104- yobel year): and the price of his sale shall be according unto the number of years, according to the time of an hired servant shall it be with him.

​​ 25:51 ​​ If there be yet many years behind, according unto them he shall give again the price of his redemption out of the money that he was bought for.

​​ 25:52 ​​ And if there remain but few years unto the year of jubilee (H3104- yobel year), then he shall count (reckon) with him, and according unto his years shall he give him again the price of his redemption.

​​ 25:53 ​​ And as a yearly hired servant shall he be with him: and the other shall not rule with rigour over him in your sight.

​​ 25:54 ​​ And if he be not redeemed (ransomed) in these years, then he shall go out in the year of jubilee (H3104- yobel year), both he, and his children with him.

Leviticus 27:16 ​​ And if a man shall sanctify unto Yahweh some part of a field of his possession, then your estimation shall be according to the seed (seed production) thereof: an homer of barley seed shall be valued at fifty shekels of silver.

​​ 27:17 ​​ If he sanctify his field from the year of jubilee (H3104- yobel year), according to your estimation it shall stand.

​​ 27:18 ​​ But if he sanctify his field after the jubilee (H3104- yobel year), then the priest shall reckon unto him the money according to the years that remain, even unto the year of the jubilee (H3104- yobel year), and it shall be abated from your estimation.

​​ 27:19 ​​ And if he that sanctified the field will in any wise redeem it (by payment), then he shall add the fifth part of the money of your estimation unto it, and it shall be assured to him.

​​ 27:20 ​​ And if he will not redeem (by payment) the field, or if he have sold the field to another man, it shall not be redeemed (by payment) any more.

​​ 27:21 ​​ But the field, when it goeth out in the jubilee (H3104- yobel year), shall be holy unto Yahweh, as a field devoted; the possession thereof shall be the priest's.

​​ 27:22 ​​ And if a man sanctify unto Yahweh a field which he hath bought, which is not of the fields of his possession;

​​ 27:23 ​​ Then the priest shall reckon unto him the worth of your estimation, even unto the year of the jubilee (H3104- yobel year): and he shall give thine estimation in that day, as a holy thing unto Yahweh.

​​ 27:24 ​​ In the year of the jubilee (H3104- yobel year) the field shall return unto him of whom it was bought, even to him to whom the possession of the land did belong.

The Yobel Year is from the Day of Atonement of the 49th year to the following year's Day of Atonement.

Numbers 36:4 ​​ And when the jubilee (H3104- yobel year) of the children of Israel shall be, then shall their inheritance be put unto the inheritance of the tribe whereunto they are received: so shall their inheritance be taken away from the inheritance of the tribe of our (fore) fathers.

Deuteronomy 15:1 ​​ At the end of every seven years you shalt make a release (H8059 shemittah- release from debt).

Exodus 21:2 ​​ If you buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.

Exodus 23:10 ​​ And six years you shalt sow your land, and shalt gather in the fruits thereof:

11 ​​ But the seventh year you shalt let it rest and lie still; that the poor of your people may eat: and what they leave the beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner you shalt deal with your vineyard, and with your oliveyard.

4 ​​ But in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, a sabbath for Yahweh: you shalt neither sow your field, nor prune your vineyard.

​​ 15:2 ​​ And this is the manner of the release (H8059 shemittah- from debt): Every creditor that lendeth ought unto his neighbour shall release (H8058 shamat- drop, loose) it; he shall not exact it of his neighbour, or of his brother; because it is called Yahweh's release (H8059 shamat- from debt).

4Maccabees 2:8 ​​ A man, therefore, who regulates his course by the law, even if he be a lover of money, straightway puts force upon his own disposition; lending to the needy without interest, and cancelling the debt of the incoming sabbath.

​​ 15:3 ​​ Of a foreigner you mayest exact it again: but that which is your with your brother (kinsman) your hand shall release (H8058 shamat- drop, loose);

Foreigner is nokriy, a non-kinsman, a racial alien.

The seventh year would be forgiven, you may resume exacting the debt if he owed more than 7 years of debt. But the debt with a brother, or kinsman, would be released in the seventh year, hence Yahweh's release.

​​ 15:9 ​​ Beware (Guard) that there be not a thought in your wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release (H8059 shemittah- from debt), is at hand; and your eye be evil against your poor brother, and you givest him nought; and he cry unto Yahweh against you, and it be sin unto you.

Be generous anyway.

Deuteronomy 31:9 ​​ And Moses wrote this law (torah), and delivered it unto the priests the sons of Levi, which bare the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, and unto all the elders of Israel.

​​ 31:10 ​​ And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of every seven years, in the solemnity of the year of release (H8059 shemittah- from debt), in the feast of tabernacles,

​​ 31:11 ​​ When all Israel is come to appear before Yahweh your God in the place which He shall choose, you shalt read this law (torah) before all Israel in their hearing.

The fall of Jericho

Joshua 6:1 ​​ Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in.  ​​​​ (Jasher 88:13)

​​ 6:2 ​​ And Yahweh said unto Joshua, See, I have given into your hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.

​​ 6:3 ​​ And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt you do six days.

​​ 6:4 ​​ And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets (H7782- shopharot) of rams' horns (H3104- yobelim): and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets (H7782- shopharot).

​​ 6:5 ​​ And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram's (H3104- yobel) horn (H7161- strength), and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet (H7782- shophar), all the people shall shout with a great shout (war cry); and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.

​​ 6:6 ​​ And Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said unto them, Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets (H7782- shopharot) of rams' horns (H3104- yobelim) before the ark of Yahweh.

​​ 6:7 ​​ And he said unto the people, Pass on, and compass the city, and let him that is armed pass on before the ark of Yahweh.

​​ 6:8 ​​ And it came to pass, when Joshua had spoken unto the people, that the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets (H7782- shopharot) of rams' horns (H3104- yobelim) passed on before Yahweh (the ark), and blew with the trumpets (H7782- shopharot): and the ark of the covenant of Yahweh followed them.

​​ 6:9 ​​ And the armed men went before the priests that blew with the trumpets (H7782- shopharot), and the rereward (rear guard) came after the ark, the priests going on, and blowing with the trumpets (H7782- shopharot).

​​ 6:10 ​​ And Joshua had commanded the people, saying, Ye shall not shout, nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you shout; then shall ye shout.

The only sound was to come from the trumpets.

​​ 6:11 ​​ So the ark of Yahweh compassed the city, going about it once: and they came into the camp, and lodged in the camp.

​​ 6:12 ​​ And Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of Yahweh.

​​ 6:13 ​​ And seven priests bearing seven trumpets (H7782- shopharot) of rams' horns (H3104- yobelim) before the ark of Yahweh went on continually, and blew with the trumpets (H7782- shopharot): and the armed men went before them; but the rereward (rear guard) came after the ark of Yahweh, the priests going on, and blowing with the trumpets (H7782- shopharot).  ​​ ​​​​ 

​​ 6:14 ​​ And the second day they compassed the city once, and returned into the camp: so they did six days.

​​ 6:15 ​​ And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early about the dawning of the day, and compassed the city after the same manner seven times: only on that day they compassed the city seven times.

​​ 6:16 ​​ And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the trumpets (H7782- shopharot), Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for Yahweh hath given you the city.

​​ 6:17 ​​ And the city shall be accursed (devoted- appointed to destruction), even it, and all that are therein, to Yahweh: only Rahab the harlot (Inn Keeper) shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.

​​ 6:18 ​​ And ye, in any wise keep yourselves from the accursed thing, lest ye make yourselves accursed, when ye take of the accursed thing, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it.

Deuteronomy 7:26 ​​ Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into your house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.

​​ 13:17 ​​ And there shall cleave nought of the cursed thing to your hand: that Yahweh may turn from the fierceness of His anger, and shew thee mercy, and have compassion upon thee, and multiply thee, as He hath sworn unto thy fathers;

In verse 18, the accursed thing is the same word as in verse 17, H2764 cherem. These cursed things are devoted, dedicated, appointed to utter destruction. This Canaanite city, the people, the society and the things in it were a curse, all of it satanically pagan, worthless, and against Yahweh and His people.

​​ 6:19 ​​ But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass (bronze) and iron, are consecrated (set apart) unto Yahweh: they shall come into the treasury of Yahweh.

​​ 6:20 ​​ So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets (H7782- shopharot): and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet (H7782- shophar), and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.

Hebrews 11:30 ​​ By faith (allegiance) the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days.

​​ 6:21 ​​ And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.

​​ 6:22 ​​ But Joshua had said unto the two men that had spied out the country, Go into the harlot's (Embassy Keeper's) house, and bring out thence the woman, and all that she hath, as ye sware unto her.

Hebrews 11:31 ​​ By faith (allegiance) the harlot (widow Embassy Keeper) Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.

​​ 6:23 ​​ And the young men that were spies went in, and brought out Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and all that she had; and they brought out all her kindred, and left them outside the camp of Israel.

​​ 6:24 ​​ And they burnt the city with fire, and all that was therein: only the silver, and the gold, and the vessels of brass (bronze) and of iron, they put into the treasury of the house of Yahweh.

​​ 6:25 ​​ And Joshua saved Rahab the harlot (widow) alive, and her father's household, and all that she had; and she dwelleth in Israel even unto this day; because she hid the messengers, which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.

Rahab and her family were descendants of Israelites that had left Egypt before the Exodus. Branches of Dan left and founded many of the European lands, branches of Judah left and were the early founders of Troy and Rome.

​​ 6:26 ​​ And Joshua adjured them at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before Yahweh, that riseth up and buildeth this city Jericho: he shall lay the foundation thereof in his firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.

​​ 6:27 ​​ So Yahweh was with Joshua; and his fame was noised throughout all the country.

Septuagint: 26 ​​ And Joshua adjured them on that day before Yahweh, saying, Cursed be the man who shall build that city: he shall lay the foundation of it in his first-born, and he shall set up the gates of it in his youngest son. And so did Hozan of Baethel; he laid the foundation in Abiron his first-born, and set up the gates of it in his youngest surviving son.

1Kings 16:34 ​​ In his (Ahab's) days did Hiel the Bethelite build Jericho: he laid the foundation thereof in (at the cost of) Abiram his firstborn, and set up the gates thereof in (at the cost of) his youngest son Segub, according to the word of Yahweh, which He spake by Joshua the son of Nun. ​​ 

So the use of Yobel (H3104) here in Joshua seems to define more of a war or battle cry. Yobel is a ram's horn, trumpet, cornet. It also, in context, is a Yobel year marked by the blowing of the shofar.

The shemittah is a 7th Shabbatical year of release.

The Yobel is the '50th' year of release. Total release and return of possessions and land.

SO WHEN IS THE JUBILEE YEAR?

This site (yahweh.org) has the Hebrew Year starting in ABIB (Nisan), roughly April of Gregorian calendar. (We believe the true Hebrew Years starts the day following the Spring Equinox -March 20/21. yahweh.org goes by a lunar calendar, whereas we follow a Solar calendar.)

The Jubilees clock began ticking in 1416 BC when the children of Israel entered Canaan. The first Jubilee was 49 years later in 1367 BC. Every 49 years another Jubilee has occurred.

Did you know that near the start of Jesus' public ministry he quoted Scripture related to the Jubilee?

He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and stood up to read. 17. And there was given Him the book of the prophet Isaiah . . . 18. "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me; for this reason, He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal those who are brokenhearted, to proclaim pardon to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to send forth in deliverance those who have been crushed, 19. To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord" (Luke 4)

Jesus was quoting from Isaiah 61, verses 1 and 2. His reference to the "acceptable year of the Lord" is a Biblical synonym for the Jubilee year.

Jubilee and the United States

The Liberty Bell, initially cast in 1752 A.D. (now in Philadelphia), is an iconic symbol of American independence. The bell's first inscribed line quotes part of the verse found in the King James Bible version of Leviticus 25:10 which mentions the jubilee. The bell rang on July 8th, 1776 to summon the people to hear the Declaration of Independence.

Unfortunately, the United States has not obeyed the Jubilee Law. It is widely believed the bell received its crack in 1835 A.D. while being rung. The crack, which occurred roughly fifty years after America's War of Independence ended in 1783, was severe enough to cause the bell never to ring again.

The next possible occurrence

Although Christ's ministry started in 26 A.D., his public proclaiming of the gospel began in 27. His quoting of Isaiah 61 could be taken as referencing he was preaching within a Jubilee year, which would have begun on Atonement in 26 A.D.. If this conclusion is true, it means the next one will begin in the fall of 2026 and run to the fall of 2027.

Not sure He died in 30 AD. I always thought He died in 33 AD
